The Newsroom

Happy First Day of Spring!
It's the first day of spring! To celebrate the changing of the seasons we now have a new (and very green) layout! I wanted something a bit easier on the eyes than our previous layout, which was very bright and blue. Also, it has been quite a while since we've had a rainy banner. We haven't had one since the changing weather banners back on Starbits. Let me know what you think! I'm still open to tweaking the colors a bit, so let me know after you adjust if something is still bothering you. Enjoy everyone! And if the weather is nice where you are, go outside and enjoy spring!

Weird Downtime and a new Contact Us form
As some of you may know, there was a weird downtime earlier today. It seems to be sorted out but the cause is still unknown. I'm currently waiting on the support team of A2hosting to reply back to me so we'll see how it all works out. For now the site seems to be stable, though a bit slow at times. In other news, I have finally coded a proper Contact Us form! :D Not super exciting, but it will make my life a bit easier. If you ever have any questions, comments, or find a glitch you can use that form to contact me via e-mail and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can. Being able e-mail questions is pretty important as if you are having problems logging in or somebody is having registration issues I'll be able to hear about it. Feel free to continue datagramming me questions or posting on the forums, this is just another option for those who would rather go through e-mail. You can find the link to the Contact Us form on the bottom of every page down by the social media icons.

Spring Clover
Here are some new clover-y things to celebrate the arrival of Spring! Some new wild edible plants can now be found in the more grassy areas in and around Bita City. There is also a cute new MIP, the Melilota (formerly called "Clover" on SBP), that can be purchased from MIP Mart until March 17th. These new edible plants have a smaller serving size than other available food items, so that should give you guys some more variety as far as that goes. Also, I have reduced the serving size of both Minty and Piny herbs slightly so it should be easier to fill up your young ibbits who have smaller stomach sizes.

I'm currently on my Spring Break (yey!) and while I do have some school work to catch up on, I also have some fun ibbits updates planned for this upcoming week. Make sure to stop by, especially on the Spring Equinox on the 20th. Also, I noticed that the forums have been a bit dead the past couple of days. Don't forget that you guys can post about a wide variety of topics, not just ibbits stuff! We actually have quite a few people that visit each day so it would be nice to see some more activity. Just a thought. ;D Have fun you guys!

Small fix: Multi-Layer Clothing Images
This is a small update, but it should allow for much more interesting clothing options in the future. Clothing can now have multiple layers so that part of the image can appear behind the others and part can be in front. This will fix some weird issues that were occurring. As you can see in my example above, before if a Kakin'eko was not wearing a shirt but was wearing a scarf you could see a blank spot around the shoulder area where the shirt should be. This was because I was limited to one image for each clothing item. Now that I have coded in the option to have multiple layers for each clothing item, this sort of gross looking error should be fixed. If you look at the Kaki' image on the right you can see that those weird blank spots are gone. You can put a shirt on the Kakin'eko and it will appear in-between the scarf images so that it looks as it should. It doesn't really seem like that big a deal, but this will allow me to create many more clothing options. (such as those traditional Kakin'eko hoods for example!) Let me know if you notice any odd layering glitches. Thanks guys!

Also, I wanted to thank everyone who has commented on the ibbits podcast v2 forum topic. We got a lot of questions and some good things to talk about on our next podcast! :D Taylor is currently out of town but once he gets back we'll start recording. If anybody has any further questions please post them on the topic. I'm going to try to keep the podcast down to around 45 minutes so if we can't fit your question on this one we'll put it on the next. I'm considering giving a little reward to those who have posted questions. I'd like to have a podcast at least once a month so something to encourage you all may be in the cards. :3

Equip a MIP!
You can now finally give your ibbits those MIP's that you've been hoarding! MIP's are those cute little companions that you can give your ibbits to keep them company. You can name the MIP and even choose where it will be positioned on your ibbit's image! To give your ibbit a MIP just move one into your ibbit's inventory, click the MIP, and then click the "Give to So-and-So" button. Simple as that!

There are still a few features that I'm beta testing right now involving MIP's that will be pretty cool. For one, MIP's will be able to aid your ibbit on activities. The MIP will gain exp and friendship exp over time. If you un-equip the MIP from your ibbit, its stats will be saved so you can alternate between MIP's to get different bonuses. The skill level of the MIP will even be preserved if you sell the MIP. I'll go into more specifics once I complete this feature, but overall these little guys will be much more than just a profile decoration. Anyway, test everything out and let me know if you have any suggestions or if you run into any glitches or problems. Enjoy, you guys!
