Celebrate Spring!

Happy Easter everyone! To celebrate this Spring holiday, Fresh Food Market is now selling some festive dyed eggs for your ibbits to enjoy! I've also introduced a new feature, multiple images for one item. You'll notice that when you buy an egg you get a random pattern. As you can probably imagine, this allows for all sorts of possibilities, such as MIP variations, variations for ibbit plushie items, and more! Also, other than being a delicious and fun snack for your ibbits, some of these eggs hold a shy little secret. I wonder who will be the first to figure it out? ;D The dyed eggs will be available until the end of the week, so stock up now. Have a nice holiday!

Child Sprites for Gremleaf Revealed!

The base sprites for the Gremleaf kids are here! As you can probably see, the males and females are quite different as children. Gremleaves are a mischievous species that lives in deep, dark forests. As infants they use their walnut-like shell for protection. As they mature, they start to outgrow their shell, instead using it as a helmet in the case of the males, and as a cape for the females. I have also released the concept art for the adult. I'm still finalizing some the adult's design, but I wanted to go ahead and give you guys a good idea of what the finished Gremleaf will look like.

As you can probably see from the images, Gremleaves adorn themselves with various plants rather than wearing clothing. I'm still working on variations, but I'll release those once I finish up the adult image. There are also still a couple fun things about this species that I will save for a later date. Look forward to it! I was hoping to have the "hatching" script running so that you guys could go ahead and get this new species, but there are a couple of glitches that I have to work out before I can release it. I'm also pretty close to being finished with the scripts that will allow you to play with your ibbits. Hopefully I can get some of these things done tomorrow.

Some sad news....

Now, as cool as I hope you guys think all these things are, I do have some sad news. Some of you may have already guessed this, as I hinted at it during one of the ibbits podcasts. The Gremleaf is the replacement for the Lehti. I'm not doing this lightly, mind you. Taylor and I started the redesign process for the Lehti two years ago, and over time it evolved into something more similar to the Gremleaf. The Lehti was a species I designed back in middle school, and I am very attached to it, but we were having a difficult time making it gel with everything else. Perhaps we will visit it again in the future, but for now, the Gremleaf is going to be taking its place. Please don't let this overshadow the fact that there is a new species, and keep in mind that I'm working hard to get redesigns and redraws for all the older species. I am currently drawing a few at once, this was just the one that I managed to complete first. Anyway, please look forward to future redesigns! If you are somewhat disappointed with this past decision, you will probably like the next two species I have in the works. Stay tuned!

New Species Name Revealed: Gremleaf!

The name of the new species has been released! The new species is called, Gremleaf. The official artwork for the infant has also been released, so you can get a hint of what the child and the adult images will look like. On Saturday the official images of the male and female Gremleaf kids will be released, along with the finalized concept art for the adult. I hope everyone is looking forward to it. I know I am! :D

Other News

One helpful thing that I finished up today is the ability to easily move items from your ibbit's inventory to your backpack. This should make item management way easier. I will continue working on the items system and make it easier and easier to organize your backpack and ibbit inventories. Believe me, moving things one at a time was getting on my nerves too. ;D

Also, I'm working on balancing out the perks that ibbits receive as they level up. I have adjusted the Show and Tell perk so that the ibbit will only find an item if its hunger level isn't at starving. The perk was getting kind of crazy so I had to tone it down a bit. Next up I will work on the Child's Play perk.

More MIP's and some toys!

To celebrate spring here are some new MIP's and some toys that should remind you that the weather is getting nicer. You can now purchase a Bubblebee or a Flower Child from the new shop, MIP Mart. And for the first time on ibbits, toys can now be purchased! You can get your very own Bubblebee Ball, and Bubblebee Blowing Bubbles from Tink's Toys!

If you can't tell, I'm gearing up to finish up the "mood" stat. Your ibbits cannot yet play with the toys, and you can't give the MIP's to your ibbits yet, but once I finish up the code for the "mood" stat you will be able to do so. So for now, go ahead and buy the items to that you'll have them for when I finish up the code. I'm hoping I can get it finished by the time we release the new ibbit species on Saturday. I plan to give a hint about the new species tomorrow, so check back soon!
